European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS)

Important Update on ETIAS

The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), initially scheduled to be operational in 2025, has been postponed. The European Union has announced that ETIAS is currently not in operation and will not commence in the first half of 2025. No action is required from travelers at this time. The EU will provide detailed information about the start of ETIAS several months prior to its launch.

What is ETIAS?

ETIAS will be an electronic authorization linked to the traveler's passport, valid for up to three years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. With a valid ETIAS, multiple entries into participating European countries will be possible for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

Who will need ETIAS?

Citizens of over 60 visa-exempt countries, including Brazil and the United States, will need to obtain an ETIAS travel authorization to enter 30 European countries. This includes tourists and business travelers planning short-term stays.

How to apply for ETIAS?

Once operational, the application process will be online through the official ETIAS website or mobile app. A valid travel document and a payment card will be required for the application fee, which is expected to be €7.

Which countries will require ETIAS?

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia
